Updates to Student Email
Students admitted to CU Boulder after January 20, 2023 will use Microsoft Exchange Online for their colorado.edu email. Students admitted to CU Boulder before or during January 2023 will continue to use Gmail, but can request a migration to Microsoft Exchange by completing the New Exchange Mailbox Request on the Messaging and Collaboration Request Portal (must be on campus or using VPN to access the portal).
Upon graduation, all alumni will be transitioned to Microsoft Exchange, or can request an email forward to a personal email address using IdentiKey Manager.
You can log in to your CU Boulder Gmail account through a web browser or an email program.

Although Google asks for your “Email”, the system cannot support the use of your first.last@colorado.edu as a username. Instead, use your individualized IdentiKeyUsername@colorado.edu (e.g. buff1234@colorado.edu in the example below) and your IdentiKey password. Once you are in the system you can use your preferred email address, usually first.last@colorado.edu (e.g. ralphie.buffalo@colorado.edu in the example below) to share resources, but not to log in.
*Note: If you have separate Google Account logged in, you may need to click the Add Account button, in order to sign in with your @colorado.edu account.

Forwarding Your Mail with Gmail
You are encouraged to use the campus-provided Gmail service, but if you prefer to use a different email service, you should change your email delivery location using CU Boulder IdentiKey Manager. If you wish to store your email in your CU Boulder Gmail account, but also forward it to another location you should make sure that your email delivery location is set to g.colorado.edu (CU Boulder Gmail) inside CU Boulder Identity Manager and add a forward location within Gmail.
If you want to consolidate a personal Gmail account with your CU Boulder Gmail account, you may use Google's Mail Fetcher tool. The email client configuration instructions can be used to help you to manually move messages from one Gmail account to another.
