OIT’s New Guide to Software Life Cycles

Submitted by stauffeg on

Software and applications are constantly being upgraded. It seems like as soon as you get accustomed to a new version of software, a new and improved version hits the streets. Case in point: Mozilla Firefox, which has been around since 2004, is on version 39 at the time of this writing. Thirty-nine!

That’s why OIT has produced a new Software Life Cycle page to help guide the campus community on recommended operating systems, productivity applications, web browsers, and email & calendar software. Based on OIT testing, the page provides a useful guide for which software is recommended, near end of life, should be upgraded or is in an early-adoption phase. Like software, the page will be updated as new versions of software is released.

We hope that this new resource will help you make sense of all the software and application versions available on the market.
