***Note for Spring 2023: To ensure a successful transition to a more self-service model, for Spring 2023, OIT will continue to assist with processing of Classroom Capture requests and will schedule recordings and embed the video channel in Canvas for all B section classes.
Resources available to ensure a smooth transition
- Request Classroom Capture: Request to have your course(s) recorded in Mediasite via the Classroom Capture service. If your classroom does not have this capability, you can also record them using Zoom. If you desire a redundant recording in the event of Mediasite system failure OIT recommends also connecting your computer to the classroom technology and recording the class in Zoom. Without a redundant recording, the instructor may need to re-record a class in the event of a system failure.
- Add Classroom Capture links to your Canvas course(s): Link directly to your lecture videos by adding a custom link to your Canvas course navigation bar.
- Schedule a Zoom session before your first class: Do you have students that will be attending your course remotely in a synchronous format? Schedule a Zoom meeting ahead of time and distribute the Zoom link via Canvas, syllabus or email.
- Use classroom technology for your Zoom meeting: Connect your computer to the classroom technology using the provided cables or use the in-room PC to provide a higher quality experience for both in-room and remote participants.
- Request a Technology Copilot: If you need assistance with your hybrid or synchronous course(s), request a Technology Copilot to assist with audio/visual setup as well as Zoom management during your classes.
- Schedule a training session to become familiar with the technology in the classroom: Use the Classroom Technology Reporting Form to request a training session ahead of time to get familiar with the technology in the classroom. You may also use this form to report an urgent issue when teaching in the space.
- Schedule a training session to better understand other teaching and learning technologies: Schedule a training session with an Academic Technology Consultant to learn more about Canvas, Zoom and other teaching and learning technologies.
