Now CU Boulder instructors can create high-quality videos, screencasts and slideshows wherever they may be. Personal Capture is an all-in-one solution that allows you to record, edit and share your content by pairing your lecture content with webcam video or simply a voice-over. My Mediasite’s Desktop Recorder does the rest. It synchronizes everything an instructor says and shows without requiring video production skills. It even includes the ability to incorporate in-video quizzes, basic video editing and other interactive features.
Personal Capture utilizes My Mediasite which is the software version of the Mediasite Classroom Capture service which has been available for a number of years in specially equipped classrooms on the CU Boulder campus. That means you can deliver professional-looking presentations with the same familiar look and feel students are accustomed to with the Classroom Capture service.
Who can use it?
Personal Capture is available to all current faculty and instructors. Personal Capture is not available to staff.
How to get it
To set up your account:
- Log in to the My Mediasite portal
- Non-DDS Customers: Install the Mediasite Desktop Recorder software:
- Register the recorder on your computer
Dedicated Desktop Support (DDS) customers should download and install the Recorder software through the self service software application. For Windows devices, the self service software application is called Software Center. On Macs, the application is called Self Service.
A number of faculty have recently requested Camtasia for lecture recording. At this time there are no plans to provide Camtasia since My Mediasite Personal Capture provides the same lecture recording functionality as Camtasia.
